So what did we discuss?
Exciting news - to spread the word of the Big Worle project we are going to launch a 'Dragons Den' type event to fund local people's ideas on how they would help the community. Only this time the audience decide who gets the money!
And better still - This is coming from our start-up money to launch Big Worle and not the £1 million. More details to follow as this is worked on over the next couple of months.
Also helping to spread the word is the fantastic 'Big Worle Showbiz'. The first event for Showbiz will be on 6th June at Becket School. Forming the choir will be the first part with songs including 'I Dreamed A Dream' from Les Miserables. More details on the website page.
We discussed the stages of collating what the needs and wants are from people living and working in the area. To help with this we are giving free on-the-job training to become a qualified Community Researcher. Currently we have a fantastic 9 people who want to be involved, but we still have a few places available - see the website for more details.
The taster day is confirmed as Wed 5th June 10.30am to 1.30pm at St Marks School. It promises to be a fun course.
We talked about ideas on how we engage with young people and we agreed to look in to using a group called Inspire to help with this.
We also looked at how we ensure we hear the views of the older residents and linking in with existing groups.
Many of those attending the meetings have delivered the newsletter door to door. We will collate what addresses we have not yet delivered to and try to get them to as many houses as possible.
We also looked at how we collate data for the area and how we use this data to measure whether the money gets used to benefit the area.
At the end of this project we want to say people's lives in the area are better because of Big Worle.
